A Pavilion of Poetic Stone – Commissioned by King Nissankamalla, the Nissanka Latha Mandapaya is an elegant stone pavilion believed to have housed a sacred bodhi tree or served as a place for chanting Buddhist texts. What sets it apart are its uniquely curved stone columns, shaped like lotus stalks—a rare and whimsical departure from traditional straight pillars.
Set within a low stone enclosure, the pavilion contains a small stupa at its center and is surrounded by lush greenery. It is a quiet, reflective space where spiritual expression meets sculptural poetry.
